After months of planning, Nomen Global and the HELP organization began a summer reading program for local children in grades 1-3. Approximately 40 children and 40 volunteers have signed up to be part of this fun program. Meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the goal is to bring FUN back into reading and to give appropriate tutoring support to each individual readers. Our kick off event was enjoyable — a puppet show from storytellers from the Springville Library, reading with Miss Wilderness USA, and a visit from the Coke Cola bear! With grant monies from the United Way and the Provo Alliance, free books and a summer treats are given to the children every day. At the completion of the summer program, each child will have a library of his or her own books, new skills to take back to school in August, and memories of fun and reading success.
