Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday and is generally acknowledged as the start of the Christmas shopping season. It is the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States. Retailers across the country draw huge crowds, many of whom wait for stores to open on Thanksgiving night, by offering special prices on highly demanded items. Back when accounting was done by hand, the losses were recorded in red ink while the profits were recorded in black ink. Because of the successful sales on this day, the term Black Friday was coined in the 1960’s.

For the brave and dedicated, Black Friday is a great day to save money on Christmas shopping. For the rest of us, Black Friday can give us a good laugh!
